Team Leader, Payroll Services
Job Responsibilities
- Review and update processes and procedures with a view to improving the client experience by identifying gaps and developing action plans to enhance customer service.
- Perform detailed analysis and strategic planning for current and future implementation/upgrades of systems, process & policies.
- Assist Payroll Manager with training and development of Payroll Officers.
- Assist Payroll Manager with new client implementation projects and initial payrolls.
- Assist Payroll Manager with end-to-end payroll processing (weekly / fortnightly / monthly), with a view to take on more operational responsibility with expected team growth.
- Assist Payroll Manager with review of client’s payroll that has been processed through payroll software (weekly / fortnightly / monthly).
- Ensure accuracy and completion of payroll, PAYG and superannuation related processing for client payrolls.
- Assist with calculation of terminations; including redundancies, dismissals, etc. as and when required by clients.
- Ensure accuracy and completion of calculation, lodgment & processing of State/Territory Payroll Tax for clients.
- Ensure accuracy and completion of calculation, lodgment & processing of State/Territory Workers Compensation renewals for clients.
- Ensure accuracy and completion of the preparation of funding request for payroll if trust account is maintained on behalf of the client.
- Ensure approvals for payrolls and payments have been obtained from client’s authorized personnel.
- Arrange for payroll and associated payment runs, by either EFT or BPAY, and coordinating with management for authorizations.
- Follow up with clients if client authorization is required for payments.
- Assist Payroll Manager to ensure clients are billed for Payroll Services on monthly basis.
- Maintain databases and other tracking tools as required.
- To prepare and participate in regular performance reviews, team meetings and training sessions.
- Ad hoc administrative duties.
Requirements
- Minimum 5-8 years’ experience in payroll.
- Experience in payroll processing for up to 500 employees.
- Superior working knowledge of payroll processes.
- Superior understanding of Australian Taxation Office (ATO) legislation as it pertains to payroll.
- Superior understanding of Superannuation legislation.
- Superior understanding of payroll legislation across Australian states and territories.”
